Assessing GIS for Your Organization

Description of Course

This workshop is not for the technologist. Rather this session is for people that are curious about what a geographic information system (GIS) is and how it can be useful to their organization. The overall goal of this workshop is to help participants understand the five fundamental components of a GIS; software, hardware, data, people, and applied uses of the technology. An overview presentation will be given, with time for small group discussions and activities. This is an excellent opportunity to come and ask questions related to GIS and spatial technologies. There are two versions of this course, a 90-minute short course and a 4-hour long course.
