Beach Survey Monuments

South Carolina Beach Monitoring Stations

This data set includes all of the South Carolina beach monitoring stations. The points representing the stations were created by inputting survey coordinate data for each point. These stations are used in monitoring beach erosion in South Carolina and occur on every barrier island along the coast, spaced about 2,000 feet apart. These stations are provided on the CD-ROM to allow users to compare LIDAR data transect with those that the South Carolina department of Health and Environmental Control (SCDHEC) Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management has created.

This data set is located on volume 1 of this CD-ROM set in the /data/shore directory and it is called monument.shp. To view the full Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) metadata record for the data set, click here.
