Retrieving LIDAR Data from the World Wide Web
One way to get LIDAR data for South Carolina is to use a web application,
the LIDAR DAta and Retrieval Tool (LDART), which has been developed by the
Coastal Services Center. At the time of
this writing, LDART is being updated with a new interface and new data sets
(it includes data from states other than South Carolina) but the essential
steps to use the application will remain the same.
To retrieve data using LDART, you will:
- Select a region (state) from which you would like to
retrieve data.
- Use geographic coordinates (latitudes and longitudes) or
a graphical user interface (GUI) to select a more specific region of
interest.
- Enter optional parameters specifying geographic projection, vertical
units of measure, datum, etc.
- Enter a valid e-mail address so that LDART can notify you when your
request has been processed.
The starting point for LDART is located on the
BeachMap project home page.
