to Top of Page The ArcExplorer project files are located in the arcexplr directory on Volume 1 of this CD-ROM set. These projects files have been designed for users that do not have ArcView® to view the spatial data provided on this CD-ROM set.
Eight ArcExplorer project files (found in the arcexplr directory) have been developed using the geographic information system (GIS) databases stored on this CD-ROM. These pre-made views combine the various South Carolina databases in an easy-to-use format for viewing and analyzing the data. These files can be accessed by starting the ArcExplorer software, and choosing the File Open option. For more instructions, please see on the on-line help files.
System requirements and installation instructions are given below.

Please note LIDAR beach mapping data can also be displayed as a grid or an image. However, this data format could not be converted to the ArcExplorer file format. To view this data as a PDF file for all of the islands and beaches in South Carolina, click here.
ArcExplorer is built with 32-bit MapObjects® technology. Therefore, to use ArcExplorer®, you must have Microsoft Windows 95/98 or Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 or later installed on your system. The tables below provide minimum and recommended system requirements for running ArcExplorer.

As with most Windows software, performance will improve with more memory and faster systems.
Note for NT Users: ArcExplorer Version 1.1 requires both Service Pack 3 and administrator privileges.
