Description:
Abstract:
This CD-ROM provides a digital record of remotely sensed water reflectance (turbidity) and sea surface temperature trends and patterns in the northern Gulf of Mexico. The satellite imagery is derived from the AVHRR (advanced very high resolution radiometer) sensor aboard the NOAA series polar-orbiting satellites and covers Gulf of Mexico waters from a time period of July 1985 to May 1999. Approximately 2500 satellite images are included on the CD-ROM. Image resolution is approximately 1 kilometer.

Purpose:
The purpose of this CD-ROM is to provide satellite imagery of water reflectance and sea surface temperature in the northern Gulf of Mexico from July 1985 to May 1999 in an easy-to-use format.

Supplemental_Information:
The AVHRR images were created with the USGS/NOAA program AVHRRMAP.
