The benefits to Friends of the Watershed to learn more about nonpoint source pollution were two-fold.

	Benefits		The intrinsic reward for environmental protection — doing good for the environment The ability to provide reports of progress to those who fund Friends of the Watershed

 

As this is a nonprofit group, it should not be surprising that the benefits to the organization itself are small (unless there is an unusual profit motive involved)
