Exercise 2 - The Big Blow
Here is the same information presented in a spreadsheet.
- hur_name - this is the
field where the name of the hurricane should be recorded
- lat - the latitude coordinate of the hurricane
for the given date (latitude should be expressed in Decimal Degrees)
- long - the longitude coordinate of the hurricane
for the given date (longitude should be expressed in Decimal Degrees;
west longitude should be indicated with a negative sign)
- scale - the Saffir-Simpson scale rating of
the hurricane (0 indicates tropical storm)
- max_sus - the maximum sustained winds (should
be expressed in knots)
- direction - the current direction of the hurricane
(should be expressed in degrees)
- speed - the velocity of storm movement, in
knots
- pos_accur - the positional accuracy, in nautical miles, of the
storm at time of measurement
- date - the date of the current reading (expressed
as YYYYMMDD)
