The Coastal Services staff is always looking for story ideas. Many of these ideas come from your comments and suggestions. Below are a few of the subjects we are researching for future articles on which we would like your input.
For the January/February edition, our writers are researching riverboat gambling. Are there unusual coastal management issues related to this topic? What are the associated environmental impacts? Has this new industry required changes in coastal management laws or policies?
Other stories we are examining for future editions include:
Gated Communities. More and more gated communities are being developed in coastal areas. How are coastal managers balancing the demands for public access with those of privacy and security?
Golf Courses. What impact do ocean- and marsh-side courses have on the environment? How are coastal managers ensuring golf courses are environmentally friendly?
Please let us know if you have other ideas for stories, or topics for us to investigate. Also, we would like your feedback on what you think about this edition of Coastal Services.
