Survey Allows Coastal Resource Managers to Speak with Collective Voice

What are the primary issues facing the coastal resource managers of this nation? What are their technological needs and capabilities now and in the future?

A survey from the NOAA Coastal Services Center asks coastal resource managers to speak to these issues. The results will be used by state programs to pinpoint their role in national trends. The Center and other NOAA offices will use the information to direct their program efforts.

This survey is divided into two parts. Part One is to be completed by the person in charge of information management or research. Computer capabilities, favored software packages, and current and potential use of satellite imagery and geographic information systems (GIS) are some of the topics addressed in this section. Part Two is for the program manager or director. The questions in this section relate to coastal resource management issues.

Each survey takes only 30 minutes to complete; electronic submission is possible. The surveys were mailed to coastal programs in June. Please return the survey to the Center by July 19.
