Ideas for the Next Issue

Are there issues that you would like to know how other states are managing? Do you have programs or projects that might benefit other coastal resource managers as they address similar challenges? Then the staff at Coastal Services would like to hear your ideas and suggestions for future articles.

The goal of Coastal Services is to bring you articles that are informative and beneficial about topics that are important to you. Your input will ensure we are hitting our target. For instance, are you interested in the following topics that our writers are looking at for the September/October or future editions?

  • Exotic Species: How are coastal managers dealing with the invasion of exotic plants and animals that pose such a hazard to our nation's ecosystems? Are there innovative programs or projects that are demonstrating their success in combating the impacts of these nonindigenous species?
  • Controlled Burning: Are National Estuarine Research Reserves using this method for fire control or to spur vegetative growth? How are the benefits balanced against air quality concerns?

Please give us your comments on these ideas, as well as your suggestions for future stories. We would also welcome your feedback on this edition of Coastal Services.

Send your ideas and comments to Hanna Goss via e-mail at Hanna.Goss@noaa.gov, or mail to 2234 South Hobson Avenue, Charleston, SC 29405-24 13. You may also contact her by phone at (843) 740-1332, or fax at (843) 740-1313.
