Ideas for the Next Issue

Preparing for coastal hazards, determining the success of no-take zones, tackling ocean management—what are the issues that you would like to read about in future editions of Coastal Services? Are there areas your program has successfully addressed or lessons that you have learned that might save other coastal resource managers from making the same mistakes?

The writers of Coastal Services strive to bring you stories that highlight states that have experience with challenges that other coastal managers may be facing. In order to do this, we need to hear from you.

Future articles in Coastal Services might focus on the following subjects:

  • Coastal Hazards – How involved are coastal managers in helping to plan development and community growth that takes natural hazards, such as hurricanes and tsunamis, into account?
  • No-Take Zones – Many managers are reluctant to promise that these management measures are more than an experiment. Is there research that shows the effectiveness of these restricted areas?
  • Ocean Management – Issues that impact the coastal zone don't stop three miles offshore. How are managers incorporating ocean related challenges into their programs?
