Ideas For Next Issue

All of our lives changed on a Tuesday morning last September. As we begin to recover from the human loss, many may wonder about the possible challenges that lie ahead. Coastal resource managers may not be immune to these changes.

Is there value in using one of the upcoming issues of Coastal Services to look at how coastal management may be affected by the aftermath of the events in New York and Washington. D.C.? Or would it be more useful to read a normal" edition featuring successful programs and projects?

The call is yours. We would like to hear your thoughts on, and reactions to, this idea.

Possible issues might include:

  • The economy. How much would an altered economy affect not only coastal management budgets, but also issues such as sprawl and coastal development, population growth, and tourism impacts?
  • Public and legislative focus. How will coastal managers accomplish their goals if the environment is not a prime public concern?

Please contact us with your comments and ideas. We want to ensure that Coastal Services continues to provide information that assists managers in dealing with coastal issues and challenges.
