Ideas for the Next Issue

As the summer months approach, the public's desire to "hit the beach" will rise along with temperatures. For the July/August edition of Coastal Services, our writers are interested in the programs, projects, and issues that may make coastal resource managers sweat.

These might include:

  • Docks – Everybody wants one, but no one wants to live next door to one. How are coastal managers addressing the issues surrounding docks, such as user conflicts and impacts to navigation?

  • Beach Renourishment – This topic seems to be increasingly controversial as competing groups question the costs and environmental impacts. Do managers still feel beach renourishment is the best solution? Are there alternatives that have proven successful?

  • Water Usage – Are our water supplies adequate to meet the demands of a rapidly growing coastal population? Have states found innovative strategies to lessen water usage, or find alternative sources?

If these are topics that you would like to read about, or if your state or program is successfully addressing these or similar topics, we would like to hear from you.
