Marine Spill Analysis System: A Demonstration CD-ROM
The Marine Spill Analysis System (MSAS) is a powerful geographic information system (GIS) designed to address five major aspects of oil spill management in a marine environment: contingency planning, on-scene spill tracking and analysis, long-term monitoring, damage assessment, and general oil spill data management.
This CD-ROM introduces potential users to MSAS. NOAA wants to get feedback from these users and obtain their assistance in determining the direction of future oil spill GIS efforts. NOAA also is looking for local, state, and federal project partners to further the development of this tool.

Community Vulnerability Assessment Tool: New Hanover County, North Carolina
This CD-ROM can help coastal communities determine and prioritize their localities' vulnerability to coastal hazards. This how-to guide includes a tutorial, a case study featuring New Hanover County in North Carolina, and information about various data management tools.
Components of the assessment include prioritizing the degree to which various segments of the community are at risk; examining the location, durability, and use of critical facilities; assessing potential environmental concerns; understanding an area's economic vulnerability; and capitalizing on prudent mitigation opportunities.

South Carolina's Coast: A Remote Sensing Perspective
What are some of the creative ways coastal resource managers are using remote sensing? This CD-ROM provides an answer. In South Carolina, shoreline mapping and land cover change detection have greatly benefited from remote sensing and GIS technology. In addition to the South Carolina case study, this CD-ROM includes a GIS tutorial to explain how to access and manipulate the data and tools necessary for this application.
