Description:
Abstract:
The U.S. Interagency Elevation Inventory displays high-accuracy topographic and bathymetric data for the United States and its territories. The project is a collaborative effort between NOAA and the U.S. Geological Survey, with contributions from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
This resource is a comprehensive, nationwide listing of known high-accuracy topographic data, including lidar and IfSAR, and bathymetric data, including NOAA hydrographic surveys, multibeam data, and bathymetric lidar. This inventory was completed November 2012 and reflects known data available at that time. It will be updated annually.
The NOAA hydrographic surveys, and the multibeam and trackline bathymetry shown are the data sets that were available as of November 2012. To access the most up-to-date bathymetric data, access the NOAA National Geophysical Data Center (NGDC) at: <http://maps.ngdc.noaa.gov/viewers/bathymetry/>
The information provided for each elevation dataset includes many attributes such as vertical accuracy, point spacing, and date of collection. A direct link to access the data or information about the contact organization is also available through the inventory.
Purpose:
High resolution, high accuracy datasets are often publicly available, but scattered in many places. This tool serves as a central index for available topographic and bathymetric data sets, provides information about the data sets, and directs you to further information.
