About These Reports

As part of an effort to preserve historical documents and increase accessibility to hurricane information, the NOAA Coastal Services Center was asked by the Department of Homeland Security Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to develop a mechanism to present and distribute documents that pertain to hurricane planning, storm effects and impacts, education, and evacuation studies. This site will provide coastal zone managers, emergency managers, researchers, and the public with information that may assist in planning for and mitigating against the next tropical cyclone. • Hurricane Evacuation Studies – This site provides a comprehensive guide to the hurricane evacuation study process.
• U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Comprehensive Hurricane Data Preparedness Study Web Site – This site provides information and data for states and counties to assist them in managing their resources to minimize the adverse effects from hurricanes.
• Hurricane Evacuation Zone Maps Tool – This site enables citizens to locate and map hurricane evacuation zones. Mapping these zones helps citizens become more prepared to evacuate and avoid the potentially life-threatening effects of a hurricane.
• Historical Hurricane Tracks Tool – The Historical Hurricane Tracks tool is an interactive mapping application that allows users to easily search and display Atlantic Basin and East-Central Pacific Basin tropical cyclone data.
