Coastal Services Center

The projects summarized below were primarily funded through the Center's Broad Area Announcement in prior years. Although some of these projects were funded through other mechanisms, their summaries have been included to illustrate the type of projects the Center addresses. Project summaries have been grouped by Center theme: Coastal Hazards, Coastal National Spatial Data Infrastructure, Habitat, and Smart Coastal Growth. Within these themes, projects are listed alphabetically.

• Coastal Hazards - Includes projects that work to reduce the environmental, social, and economic impacts from coastal hazards by providing new information and tools for coastal managers.
• Coastal National Spatial Data Infrastructure - Includes projects that support coastal resource managers with a variety of data-related services and tools furthering the use of geospatial data through the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI).
• Habitat - Includes projects that help coastal managers integrate the physical, ecological, economic, and social components of habitat protection and management.
• Smart Coastal Growth - Includes projects that assist communities in their efforts to incorporate smart growth concepts into the planning and decision-making process.
