Permissible Dock Styles for Scenario A

Docks are made up of various parts. By changing the relative size, design, number, and placement of docks, their impact on a water body and surrounding environment can be changed. The table below shows the dock parts or features that make up this scenario. If the terminology is confusing, see the parts of a dock interactive graphic.

Dock Size Requirements
Average Size of Dock: 140 sq ft 140 sq ft
Total Area / Size Limit: None defined, combination of length and width requirements used instead
Length / Depth: 30 ft from landward edge of marsh or 2 ft water depth at dock terminus, whichever is least
Height: Lateral access is required, 5 ft high or cross over must be built
Float Size: Max 50 sq ft, min width = 4 ft
Walkway Width: Max 3 ft
Walkway Support Style & Size: Double pilings, with or without cross bracing
4-in diameter pilings
Handrail Style: May use rope handrail, if needed

Allowed in Resource Conservation Areas? No No
Setback: No setback required
Maximum Owners Sharing: None Up to 3
Minimum Owners Sharing: None 2 neighbors
Boat Requirements
Size Restriction: Max 12 ft long with up to 10 horsepower motor
