Georeferencing a Map or T-sheet

Overview

Analyzing historical shorelines often involves extracting a shoreline from maps and T-sheets (historical manuscripts). Before vectorizing or digitizing the shoreline boundary, the map must be georeferenced. This online, interactive tutorial steps users through the process of georeferencing a T-sheet.

What You Will Learn

After completing this course, participants will be able to

  • Identify control points using best practices
  • Add control points using the Georeferencing toolbar in ArcMap
  • Determine root mean square error using the Link Table
  • Georeference a map or T-sheet
