This tool helps users design new conservation areas, report performance of existing conserved areas, and develop multiple-use zoning plans for natural resource management. The advancement of Marxan to include zones represents a shift away from the basic conservation area design problem toward a multiple-zone scheme that supports the efficient allocation of resources across a range of different uses.
