MarineMap is a Web-based decision-support tool for open and participatory spatial planning in the marine environment. With a standard Web browser, stakeholders can access MarineMap to assist in the design of marine protected areas (MPAs) by helping users easily visualize oceanographic, biological, geological, chemical, and human dimensions of the ocean and coastal areas. The tool was originally developed to support California's Marine Life Protection Act (MLPA) Initiative.
