usSEABED contains primarily point data but also raster and vector products. The database contains the following data types:
- Sediment grab samples
- Benthic still photographs
- Side-scan sonar imagery
- Surficial geology and sediment distribution maps interpreted from acoustic backscatter
- Coastal backdrop maps of U.S. coastlines, bathymetric contours, marine boundaries, and coastal vulnerability
Users can query the database and download the following:
- Source data (SRC) – Information on the original source data
- Extracted data (EXT) – numeric data from lab analysis
- Parsed data (PRS) – Numeric data from verbal logs, notes, or descriptive materials
- Calculated data (CLC) – values determined from the source data by standard derivative equations
- Component Feature and Facies data (CMP, FAC) – Interpretive information on mineralogic composition and geologic facies
