Overview

NOAA Raster Navigational Charts (RNCs) are georeferenced digital images of NOAA navigational charts. NOAA RNCs are official data that can be used in many types of electronic charting systems, including raster chart display systems (RCDS) and electronic chart display and information systems (ECDIS). An RNC is an accurate digital image composed of pixels and displayed on an electronic screen. Each pixel has a unique color, or it has no color. The pattern of the colored and the empty pixels gives shape to the individual features of the chart. Along with the use of NOAA Electronic Navigational Charts, such products are used for safe navigation in U.S. waters.
