• Supplies the integral component of models that are necessary to understand or predict movement of oil and hazardous materials, distributions of temperature and salinity, migration of animals, and modeling of storm surge and tsunami effects

Notes and Limitations: These data sets were created from many different hydrographic surveys that used different sounding techniques and were conducted over different time periods. Hydrographic surveys are conducted for varying purposes, so soundings are collected at different spatial intervals and depth resolutions. Therefore, the DEMs may contain temporal and spatial discontinuities and should not be used for navigational purposes.
