When will I find out if my abstract has been accepted for a presentation at Coastal Zone 09?
The planning committee will begin its review of all submissions immediately after the submission deadline in late November 2008. Prospective participants will be notified of their acceptance in February 2009.
Can I make edits or other changes to my submission after the deadline?
No. Accepted abstracts will be compiled, as submitted, into the conference proceedings. Please be sure to have your abstract edited before submission.
If I am a presenter, do I have to pay the registration fee?
Yes. Because registration fees are the major source of funding for Coastal Zone 09 and because a significant percentage of the registrants will make presentations, all presenters, panel participants, session chairs, and poster presenters must register before the conference deadline and pay the standard fees.
Can I share my registration with a co-worker?
No. One-day registration options are available for those not able to attend the full conference. Each participant must individually register. Entire registrations, however, may be transferred to a colleague if you find that you are unable to attend after registering. Requests for substitutions must be made in writing before the conference registration deadline.
May I register for the conference when I arrive in Boston?
No. No on-site registration will be available. All conference attendees must register and pay all associated fees before the conference registration deadline.
Are students able to volunteer to receive reduced or free registration?
No. We have very limited on-site volunteer opportunities and are unable to offer volunteer work as an in-kind registration fee.
Can the Coastal Zone 09 planning committee assist me with visa procedures in my home country to attend the conference?
No. To learn about visa procedures in your home country, visit the nearest United States Embassy or Consulate, or contact your home country’s embassy in the United States. A list of U.S. embassies can be found at http://usembassy.state.gov.
I would like to moderate a session at Coastal Zone 09. Are there opportunities available to do this?
Yes. Although no reduction in registration fee is available, moderators are always needed. Please contact Jan Kucklick at Jan.Kucklick@noaa.gov or (843) 740-1279 for additional information.
