During The Storm: How Hazards Impact Your Community

When the Storm Strikes: Will your community be ready?

The community no longer looks like a postcard. A hurricane is headed this way. The sky is darkened, the winds are increasing, and rain batters structures from all angles. The waves thrash about, and beaches are bare. Looking about, you see people busily boarding up their homes and businesses, emptying store shelves of plywood and groceries. Folks wonder whether to leave or stay. This is a stormy day on the coast. Read more on the impacts from a coastal storm.

This site's “During The Storm” graphic depicts some of the products created by the Coastal Storms Program to assist communities as they weather the storm. The graphic also shows how interconnected a typical community is and how communities can use CSP products during the storm. For more detailed information about each project, visit the "Florida Products" section located on the navigational bar to the left. Javascript is needed to view and interact with the graphic.
