Spectral Signature

The above figure is a spectral response curve for healthy vegetation. Several types of information about the Earth's surface can be derived from the absorption and emission features found in a Spectral Signature. Indicators in this signature include the chlorophyll absorption features in the blue and red wavelengths as well as the high reflectance in the near infrared. This energy is scattered by the mesophylls present in the leaf structure.
