All the data in this image were derived from the visible, near and thermal IR bands from the AVHRR aboard the NOAA-11 satellite. The image was created by draping an RGB image over a digital elevation model (DEM) generated from cloud top temperatures. The DEM was derived from an inverted channel 4 band (thermal IR) while the RGB image was created using channel 4, channel 2 (near IR) , and channel 1 (visible).
