Why use the library

With the Internet becoming increasingly important for finding information, it is easy to forget about the vast resources held by public and private libraries. Through interlibrary loan programs and specialized databases, even smaller libraries can provide access to specialized information. Libraries offer the following advantages for information research and retrieval:

  • Ability to browse and read books, most of which are not available on-line
  • Ability to access and read newspapers and magazines
  • Directories that point to papers and research that can be special ordered
  • Access to primary materials
  • Access to the Internet
  • Access to fee-based databases such as NexisLexis
  • Information that is already organized in a familiar scheme
  • Personal assistance through librarians and assistants
