Coastal Management Framework


Welcome to the Survival Skills for Coastal Resource Managers, Coastal Management Framework module. This six-part module has been designed to provide you with an understanding of the many players involved in coastal zone management and their role in the decision-making process. The core section of this course is a wetlands mitigation case study. The other sections are complementary and provide additional depth to the materials in the case study.

After you complete this module you will have a foundation in the following concepts:

  • Academic disciplines and decision making
  • The Coastal Zone Management Act (CZMA) and its various sections
  • The different ways state coastal programs are structured
  • Federal agencies and their responsibilities in the coastal zone
