Regional Associations and Local Observatories

Regional Associations (RAs) provide the primary framework for orchestrating the required collaboration within each region and are responsible for the design and coordinated operation of regional coastal ocean observing systems. Local data providers are responsible for the design, deployment and overall operation of sensors in the field. In some cases local providers make data streams directly available to the public, in other cases data are routed to collection points at other local providers or RAs.

A process to certify either a Regional Association or a local provider does not yet exist. So the list below represents an informal tally of well known local providers and their commonly recognized Regional Associations.
