Aquatic Vegetation: Data Development and Applied Uses CD-ROM
This CD-ROM includes technical mapping guidance, information about seagrasses,
and examples of how SAV data and maps are used. Use the link above to order the CD-ROM.
South Carolina Oyster Mapping Pilot Report
This document provides guidance for mapping intertidal oyster resources with documentation of appropriate imagery and mapping methods based on a comparative study conducted in 2002. The information in this document was implemented by the State of South Carolina to inventory the state’s oyster resources in 2004.
Benthic Habitats
of NY / NJ Harbor
This Web site provides spatial data and metadata, habitat maps, background
and methods information, and a downloadable technical report describing the
results of an effort to identify and map the major habitats within NY/NJ Harbor
using a combination of sediment profiling imagery and standard benthic community
sampling.
Guidance
for Benthic Habitat Mapping: An Aerial Photographic Approach (PDF)
This document provides guidance and standardized methodology to seagrass
data developers. It was written to facilitate the production of consistent
seagrass data for anyone using aerial photography to map benthic resources.
Seagrass and Aquatic Habitat Assessment Workshop Summary (PDF)
These proceedings from a 1998 workshop summarize issues related to
seagrass mapping, change detection, classification, and standards.
Coral
Remote Sensing Workshop Proceedings and Recommendations (PDF)
This 1996 workshop focused on the advantages and disadvantages of various
remote sensing techniques for coral mapping, including hyperspectral imaging, laser
line scan, and multibeam sonar.
Benthic Habitat Data Series CD-ROMs
Benthic habitat data CD-ROMs are available for Florida Bay, Florida;
Willapa Bay, Washington; and coastal Massachusetts. These CD-ROMs
contain benthic habitat data developed from aerial photography as well
as field data, descriptions of the various habitat classifications, and
sample imagery. They also include background information on the projects,
methods, and partners to allow users to effectively apply the data to
coastal issues. All data and information are provided in formats suitable
for use in a geographic information system (GIS) and most Internet
browser softwares.
To download the spatial data from these three areas, please visit the following
Spatial Data pages of this Web site. To request a copy of any of these CD-ROMs,
please follow the "Request CD-ROM" links below and complete an on-line request form.
