Benthic Habitat Mapping
The geographic extent of the study area consists of approximately 120 miles of the east coast of Florida, from New Smyrna Beach south to Jupiter Inlet. In addition to SAV, this data set also includes oyster beds and drift algal accumulations. SAV in the study area has been mapped regularly by the St. Johns River and South Florida Water Management Districts since 1992. Seagrass is monitored here as an indicator of overall water quality, and local water quality improvement practices are specifically designed to encourage the health and stability of seagrass beds. The Center's role in this project included in-house data creation and field validation. Download data: fl_ir96.zip |
