Process_Description:

The methodology used to determine the best estimate of annual average recession rate (feet/year) and estimate of margin of error in annual average recession rate (feet/year) is described in DOGAMI (1994). The value for mean plus error was calculated for this study using the DOGAMI data. Values for recession rates over given time periods and house to bluff rates were obtained directly from the DOGAMI database. The value for the maximum recession rate was obtained by searching the DOGAMI rates at individual locations for the highest value at any given time interval. The class value represents the rounding of the maxima up to the nearest 0.5 feet/year interval (0.25 feet/year if less than 0.25). The RNKR (1978) maps were reviewed to identify recession rate classes (slight, moderate, and severe) and rates (0.25, 0.75, and 1.5 feet/year) assigned to these rate classes based on information in the RNKR (1978) text .
